‘Nothing But Headaches’ say Goose Creek Residents

Nelson Lee resides just across Lowland Road from this massive impoundment, now planted with corn. “At sunrise,(during duck season) it sounds like artillery going off, and shotgun pellets rain down on my roof and yard.”

Rather than decoys, many of the impoundments use live ducks as a lure, grown inside screened cages like the one seen here.

Massive levees or dikes are used to flood an area that has been planted with a food crop. Often wells are dug to extract groundwater, which is later discharged into roadside ditches.
