Goodbye Old Friend! A new 6 -12 school in Bayboro nears completion. As a result, the Pamlico County Board of Education has declared the current Pamlico County Middle School property unnecessary for public school purposes.
As required by North Carolina law, the board recently offered the site and all buildings to the Pamlico County Board of Commissioners for consideration. At its June 15, 2026 meeting, the Commission voted to decline a right of first refusal to purchase the property, and authorized the Board of Education to pursue other options for its disposition.
School officials will now consult legal counsel to determine the appropriate next steps. Additional information regarding the disposition and potential sale of the property will be released in the coming weeks as the process moves forward.
