DRAGON BOAT RACES

Area’s Premier Summer Event set for
Aug. 24 at River Dunes

Hundreds of Paddlers Expected. Spectators Free!

Massive Vessels Arrive at River Dunes

Each of these long, narrow boats can accommodate 20 paddlers, a drummer, and a steer-person. Practice sessions for many of the 14 teams have been scheduled. Competitive racing is expected to begin about 9am on Saturday, Aug. 24. Please join the fun. Spectators and parking are free.

In 2023, ‘Fossil Floaters’ of Nutrien won the highly competitive Community Division. Here, team captain accepts the Fran Deaton Perpetual Trophy, in memory of the 85-year-old drummer who led her squad to victory during the 2010 inaugural race. Nutrien returns this year to defend its title, having adopted a new name — ‘Dragline Dragons.’
