With Uncle Sam’s blessings, the state Department of Transportation plans to scale back the number of Electric Vehicle charging stations it had originally committed to build along interstates and highways – moving funds toward under-served communities, rural areas and highways The first round of charging stations began in 2024. Five businesses are now under contract to build and operate the infrastructure funded with a Biden-era federal grant of $109 million.
