BAYBORO – Monday night, calling the INN AT PAMLICO “a bona-fide grassroots project,” Lorraine Yaeger, representing a nonprofit known as Tried By Fire, told the County Commission that this ambitious project to reduce recidivism and homelessness among formerly incarcerated women will soon break ground at a corner lot on Main Street directly across from the Courthouse.
“Without an actual address, absolutely no resources are available for these vulnerable women,” explained Yaeger, adding “jail is not the place for rehabilitation, especially when you realize that
18,000 people are released from prison annually in North Carolina – many with no place to go.”
Yaeger said active fundraising will continue, “in fact we’re having another big Party on May 30.”
