Arapahoe says ‘no’ to vaccine passports

ARAPAHOE – Earlier this month, elected officials in this small town voted unanimously against any requirement for a so-called vaccine passport. In doing so, the five member board empowered Mayor Kenny Heath to draft a resolution to that effect, which is to be transmitted to the Governor and to the General Assembly, no later than Monday afternoon, April 26.

In a brief interview this week, Heath said the vote was not intended to downplay the importance of COVID-19 vaccinations. Rather, it emphasizes the town’s commitment to harmony in the community.

“Of course, the vaccine is extremely important,” explained Heath, “but we are trying to avoid anything that might prove divisive among our residents or detrimental to our small businesses. We are looking forward to a time when we can return to our wonderful lifestyle here in Arapahoe!” 

Heath intends to tackle the document sooner rather than later, but added “I would be delighted to hear from anyone who might have some suggestions or other input. Please have them call me at (252) 670-9854,”
