Four people arrested on sexual offense charges in Pamlico County

During February, Investigators with the Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office conducted several search warrants for Sex Offenders who failed to comply with the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry. Investigators During these investigations, four people were arrested for various charges.

Keith Hawk

Keith Hawk, 58, of Bayboro, was arrested after a search warrant was conducted at his residence. Hawk was out on bond for a similar previous arrest on January 18, 2024. During the search, Investigators located additional evidence that Hawk had failed to comply with Sex Offender Registration requirements. Hawk was arrested again and charged with Failure to Register as a Sex Offender and Third-Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. Hawk was placed into the Pamlico County Detention Center under a $350,000.00 secured bond set in district court during Hawk’s first appearance.


Cody Newman

Cody Newman, 33, of Oriental, was charged with two counts of Third-Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor and two counts of Second-Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. Investigators received an ICAC tip that led to a search warrant at Newman’s residence. Evidence was collected during the search warrant, and Newman was arrested on the above charges. Newman was placed into the Pamlico County Detention Center under a $30,000.00 secured bond.


Joseph Conover

Joseph Conover, 39, of Oriental, was charged and arrested for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. The charge stems from Conover failing to disclose online required information to the Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office as required by law. Conover was on pre-trial release for a Felony Secret Peeping charge in Pamlico County. Conover was placed into the Pamlico County Detention Center under a $100,000.00 secured bond.


Deondre Dixon

Deondre Dixon, 22, of Grantsboro, was charged with one count of Second-Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. Investigators received an ICAC tip that led to a search warrant at Dixon’s residence. Evidence was collected during the search warrant, and Newman was arrested on the above charges. Newman was placed into eh Pamlico County Detention Center under a $100,000.00 secure bond.
