Middle School students head to Atlanta for National Championships

PAMLICO COUNTY – Congratulations to the SkillsUSA members who qualified for Nationals in Atlanta, GA! From left, Joshua Behrens, Tre`Mhiya Arrington, and Mia Angelo (alternate Jacobs Willis not shown) are seen here in Greensboro where they qualified for the Team Engineering event.

In Atlanta beginning June 24, they will face a challenge upon arrival, and will use the Engineering Design Process to research, brainstorm, sketch, design, build, test, retest/redesign/rebuild if necessary, and finally present their end product and discuss its effectiveness. Judges will evaluate their teamwork, leadership qualities, work ethics, and positive work dynamics.

Praise also for Addysen Grant’s Pin Design, which won not only 1st place in our Regional Rally and 1st place in States, but was also chosen to represent North Carolina this year for our National Conference! Her pin design is so unique and represents NC beautifully. All students, advisors, and anyone else who registers for Nationals will receive a pin with her design. They will also be available for purchase for students to trade with other chapter members from across the United States, parts of Canada, and the Dominican Republic!

These outstanding students from Pamlico County Middle School need our help to pay for a variety of travel expenses. Please stop by Hardison Tire this Saturday, June 15, and pick up an affordable lunch of chicken, mac & cheese, green beans, and cake for dessert to be served from 10am until 3pm.

Also, a GO FUND ME account is already receiving donations. For more details and information, contact PCMS STEM TEACHER sherihale@pamlicoschools.org.
