Hello Friends!
It is hard to believe that Spring is around the corner (despite recent chilly temps). In addition to warmer weather, flowers, and the ability to spend more time outside, Spring heralds the completion of construction on our new library! After six years of dreaming, planning, and fund-raising, we are within a few months of realizing our vision of a new library and community center! We anticipate construction to end later this month.
Please take a minute to read this important news and share it with friends and neighbors who may not already be aware:
On April 1st, the public library located at 603 Main Street in Bayboro will close to begin the packing and moving process. During this transition, library services will be available at the Marybelle Hollowell Annex, situated in the windowed area of HeartWorks. We will soon announce hours of operation and programming schedule for this temporary location. You can visit the temporary location to pick up holds, browse new books, and continue to enjoy the library services you need and love! The Book/Tech Mobile will be another option for retrieving library materials. We expect the moving process to take one to two months, with an anticipated opening date at our new location – not far away on Hwy. 55 – before June 1st, 2025.
Some of you have asked if we still need funds and the answer is a resounding YES! We are still raising funds to outfit the Young Adult Room and to purchase an electronic sign to advertise all the wonderful events planned throughout the year. Lastly, we are in the early stages of designing landscaping (beyond the sod and grass seed included in the construction contract) and we will surely need both financial and muscles from our community.
Please save the date of Saturday, June 7, starting at 11:00am, for our Grand Opening Celebration! Thanks to all who have worked so tirelessly and given so generously to make this dream a reality!
