On 03/19/2022 Carteret County Deputies arrested Royal Pittman Rogers, 80, of Magens Court, Cedar Point after shooting his wife at the couple’s home in the Magens Bay community.
Deputies and Cape Carteret police responded to the call Saturday afternoon approximately 5:44pm after a family member called 911 from a different location to report the domestic.
Eleanor Rogers, 77, was transported to Camp Lejeune Naval Hospital where she is being treated for a gunshot wound to the upper torso. The victim is in stable condition.
Royal Rogers was charged with one count of attempted murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious bodily injury. He is being held in the Carteret County jail without bond and scheduled for his first court appearance on Monday, 03/21/2022.
