April 22 luncheon with Devin Nunes boosts Trump campaign!

Join the Executive Committee of the Third Congressional District GOP – along with Congressman Greg Murphy – in welcoming former Congressman Devin Nunes to a luncheon April 22 at the Convention Center in Greenville.

Nunes will offer lunch attendees behind-the-scenes insights into Donald Trump’s presidency and share his thoughts on the unprecedented indictment of a former U.S. President and current presidential candidate.

As Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, Nunes was the first and most prominent Member of Congress to expose the Russian collusion narrative as a hoax.

In early 2017, when the entire corporate media apparatus was publishing near daily “bombshell” stories alleging that President Trump was a Russian agent, Devin Nunes became the first congressman to reveal the accounts were false. He argued publicly that no intelligence supported the accusations and that the media’s legion of anonymous intelligence officials who alleged collusion was part of an information warfare campaign being waged against President Trump.

On the Intelligence Committee — as Adam Schiff repeatedly lied about the existence of supposed secret intelligence proving collusion — Nunes doggedly investigated the sources of the collusion hoax. When the FBI and Department of Justice stonewalled his demands for information related to their participation in the hoax, Nunes issued subpoenas and even threatened to submit contempt of Congress resolutions against Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, FBI Director Christopher Wray, and Attorney General Jeff Sessions. At one point, Rosenstein threatened to retaliate against the subpoenas by issuing his own subpoenas for emails and other records from Intelligence Committee Republicans and their staff members.

Due to his prominence in debunking the collusion hoax, Nunes became a constant target of attacks by the corporate media, the Democratic Party, and left-wing activist groups. The New York TimesWashington Post, CNN, and the entire corporate media ran frequent hit pieces against him, often accusing him of being a Russian agent. A left-wing activist even gained access to his wife’s work emails and published them on the Internet, which left-wing groups then cited in frivolous ethics complaints filed against Nunes.

Nunes pressed his investigation forward despite these attacks. Crucially, he won a protracted court battle to obtain the banking records of Fusion GPS (the opposition research firm that compiled the Steele dossier). A collection of false collusion allegations against President Trump, the dossier was revealed by Fusion’s bank records to have been a campaign dirty trick funded by the Hillary Clinton Campaign and the Democratic National Committee.

In February 2018, along with other Intelligence Committee Republicans and staff members, Nunes published the “Nunes memo” detailing the Department of Justice’s improper submission of Steele dossier information to the Foreign Intelligence and Surveillance Court (FISC). In response, Adam Schiff and other Intelligence Committee Democrats released the “Schiff memo,” which argued that the DOJ’s submission, which was a warrant application to spy on Trump associate Carter Page, was proper and justified.

Although corporate media uniformly denounced the Nunes memo and praised the Schiff memo, DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz later identified a whopping SEVENTEEN major errors or omissions in the warrant applications and renewals. In light of Horowitz’s findings, FISC Presiding Judge Rosemary Collyer accused the DOJ and FBI of misleading her court.

Nunes was further vindicated by the investigation report by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, which found no evidence of Trump-Russia collusion. In January 2021, in recognition of Nunes’ investigatory work debunking the Russia collusion hoax, President Trump awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor.
