Towns Team Up To Oppose Insurance Hikes

RALEIGH – Our appreciation to Minnesott Beach town councilman Sarge O’Donnell (left) and Arapahoe mayor Kenny Heath who joined forces early Monday morning to attend a ‘public comment forum’ in Raleigh on proposed homeowners’ insurance rate increases.

The duo were among the first to speak during a recording session in the Jim Long Hearing Room at the N.C. Department of Insurance offices in downtown Raleigh.

Mike Causey, the state’s elected Insurance Commissioner, released a brief video last week, vowing to oppose many of the proposed increases. If approved, higher bills could show up by Aug. 1 of this year.
