On Sunday, March 17, 2024, at approximately 1:02 a.m. Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a 911 call reporting multiple shots being fired and several vehicles leaving the area of Kershaw Loop Road in Oriental. Pamlico County deputies responded to the area and located several vehicles and a residence that had been hit by gunfire. No one was injured. It is believed the shooting stemmed from an altercation between several individuals earlier in the evening.
Deputies were able to locate several witnesses and multiple shell casings in multiple calibers in the yard of the residence and in the street in front of the residence. Deputies located and seized three handguns from individuals at the scene and those firearms are being processed to determine if they were used in the shooting. Deputies are continuing to investigate and have identified several persons on interest related to the shooting.
