On 12/18/2023 Detectives with the Carteret County Sheriff’s Office arrested Chance Malik Zephir, 26, of Newport following a narcotics investigation into the distribution of heroin.
The charges are the result of a joint investigation between the Carteret County Sheriffs Office and the Morehead City Police Department.
Numerous controlled buys were made from Zephir who was supplying heroin throughout Carteret County. Zephir was currently out on bond for prior drug charges.
Zephier was charged with five counts of trafficking heroin and possession with intent to sell and deliver heroin. He is being held in the Carteret County jail under a $100,000 bond and is scheduled for his first court appearance this week.
