It gives me great pleasure to announce that the Town of Aurora has secured funding commitments necessary to build its $2.2 million
Industrial Park, and that construction will get underway this spring. A groundbreaking is being scheduled for early summer, and I am
confident that construction will be completed by late summer or early fall.’
The 51-acre Park, located on NC Hwy. 33 near the Aurora/Richland Township Fire & Rescue Building, will include a new Aurora campus of Beaufort County Community College. It will offer training in diesel mechanics, welding, pipe-fitting and other classes for Nutrien employees and prospective employees. The community college will also offer a wide range of courses to area citizens aimed at workforce preparedness.
Our Town Board strongly believes that the Park is a giant first step toward revitalization of Aurora. Further plans for new housing and amenities are on the drawing board with the aim of making the Town a popular place for young families to live.
The Town of Aurora did not achieve this important milestone all on its own. We are deeply grateful to the Golden Leaf Foundation, the Department of Commerce, Beaufort County, and to Nutrien, which has assisted with land acquisition and by providing equipment for training at BCCC.
