Actual Girders from 9-11 Focal Point of Commemoration

By Sandy Schulties | 9-11 Event Coordinator

FAIRFIELD HARBOUR – We welcome everyone to join us at 8am on Saturday, September 11th at the Fairfield Harbour Fire Station/Community Center (585 Broad Creek Road, New Bern) where we will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the day that changed our nation forever.

Our keynote speaker will be the Fairfield Harbour resident engineer/architect of our 9-11 memorial. Touch the steel girders from the World Trade Center that are the focal point of our memorial. Look at the surrounding pieces of scattered concrete that represent the feel of the day-after.

The heroic acts of First Responders will be remembered and the 3,000 killed on that day will be mourned. There will be a memorial prayer offered and a moment of silence observed. This is the day that demands togetherness, and unity across the nation.

Following the ceremony, refreshments will be served in the Community Center.

WE WILL NEVER FORGET !!
