Wesley Sykes was arrested on a traffic stop in Lee County Florida

On Sunday May 2, 2021, Wesley Sykes, DOB 5/8/1984, was arrested on a traffic stop in Lee County Florida. Sykes was charged with two (2) misdemeanors and arrested on a Fugitive Warrant based on charges by the Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office.   The Lee County Sheriff’s Office had been notified by the Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office that Sykes was in the Cape Coral area of Lee County.   The Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office warrants stemmed from charges related to a series of thefts by Sykes.

On June 10, 2021, the NC State Bureau of Investigation assisted the Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office by using their airplane to fly to Cape Coral. The SBI picked up Sykes and returned him to Pamlico County to face charges related to crimes committed by Sykes.

Sykes was charged by the Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office with three (3) felonies, and fourteen (14) misdemeanors. Sykes’ crime spree included Felonious Larceny, Felony Breaking and Entering, multiple counts of Misdemeanor Larceny, Possession of Stolen Property, Fleeing to Elude, Resist Public Officer, Careless and Reckless Driving, and Failure to Stop for Blue Lights and Siren. Sykes is also a suspect in other thefts throughout Pamlico County.

Sykes has also been charged with theft related crimes by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office and the Craven County Sheriff’s Office. Sykes is being held in the Pamlico County Detention Center under a $100,000 US Currency Bond.

Sheriff Chris Davis would like to thank the Lee County Sheriff’s Office in Florida and the NC State Bureau of Investigation with their assistance to bring fugitive Wesley Sykes back to Pamlico County to face charges for the crimes he has allegedly committed.
