Wednesday high speed chase in Pamlico County leads to arrest

On Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at approximately 8:30pm, Deputies with the Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office were conducting a Drivers License checking station at the intersection of Straight Road and Highway 55 just outside of Oriental. While conducting the checking station, a vehicle operated by Jermaine Channing Roberson drove through the checking station at a high rate of speed, refusing to stop and almost striking one of the deputies. Deputies left the checking station in an attempt to stop the vehicle, however; the vehicle would not stop. The vehicle chase went through the village of Oriental, before ending at the intersection of Janiero and Kershaw Road as the suspect vehicle crashed into the ditch. During the chase the driver operated the vehicle at speeds higher than 100 MPH. As a result of the investigation, Deputies charged Jermaine Channing Roberson with the following crimes:

Assault of A Government Official
Reckless Driving to Endanger
Injury to Personal Property
