U.S. Senator Thom Tillis comes to Elizabeth City
ELIZABETH CITY — The Al Pam Republican Club announced this week that U.S. Sen. Thom Tillis will headline a fund raising event on behalf of the various Council of State candidates who are running for election to various offices, including Insurance Commissioner, Finance Director and Superintendent of Public Instruction, among others.
This event begins at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, at Montero’s Restaurant.
In the previous election, money that was raised by the NC GOP, was funneled to the Governor’s Race and none of it was provided to Council of State candidates, which is a condition that Al Pam is attempting to rectify in this election cycle.
Many people do not know very much about the Council of State candidates as the focus has always been on the Gubernatorial race. While the governor and lieutenant governor elections are important, Council of State posts are closer to the people than what most voters expect.
When elected, these officials run the departments within state government that ordinary people turn to when they have a problem or concern. They not only manage the departments and the personnel within each, they also set the operational tone and procedures that the employees refer to when contacted by the public.
Citizens of all political affiliations are invited to attend. All contributions should be made payable to the Historic Al-Pam Republican Club.
