On 05/24/2018, Carteret County Deputies and the NC State Bureau of Investigation flew to Chattanooga, TN to pick up Raymond Andrew Corona, 26, of Hixson, TN for engaging in sexual acts with a local minor.

Detective Derek Moore who investigated the case said that Corona is accused of flying into a nearby airport and having relations with a 13-year-old girl he met on- line in the fall of 2017.

Corona, who was arrested on 05/11/2018 by Chattanooga Police, was held in the Hamilton County jail awaiting an extradition hearing for the NC charges. Once extradition was waived, the NCSBI flew their plane into Michael J. Smith airport Thursday morning to pick up Carteret County officials who make a round trip to Chattanooga and back to Beaufort.

Corona was charged with Statutory Sex Offense with a child under the age of 15 and Solicitation of a minor by computer. Corona was placed in the Carteret County Jail under a $175,000.00 bond. Coronas bond was increased to one million dollars during his first court appearance this morning in Carteret County District Court.

Sheriff Asa Buck said that this arrest should serve as a reminder to monitor your children’s computer activity.
