Shoddy paperwork on septic approvals

PAMLICO COUNTY – A small army of local officials – and County Attorney Jimmie Hicks — are headed to Raleigh on Tuesday, April 10, to meet with representatives of the state’s Division of Public Health – On-site Water Protection Agency. Last week, the local health department received an ultimatum from that same state agency – an order to mail an intimidating four-page ‘Notice of Intent to Suspend’ to 27 property owners in the Windmill Pointe subdivision. Insiders familiar with the matter blame missing permits and/or inadequate soil analysis reports – a problem that apparently pre-dates the arrival of Health Director Scott Lenhart – on the job just 16 months but who is now caught in the crossfire.
