Road Trip! Road Trip!
GRANTSBORO – It’s official name is ‘Annual Spring Trip – 2017’ but take it from one who knows – the yearly excursion planned by the Pamlico County Historical Association is an exceedingly affordable and convivial one-day outing.
This week, during a brief telephone interview, Brent Stowe (the museum’s jack-of-all-trades) issued an urgent plea: “Please sign up quickly! There are only 47 seats on our bus, and this event is first come, first served. Space is indeed limited.”
Bear Grass Bus Line departs from the Grantsboro Town Hall at 7 am on Friday, June 2, bound for three intriguing stops: The Duplin County Winery, the Johnston County Heritage Center, and a museum in Smithfield tasked with displaying memorabilia from the Hollywood career of actress Ava Gardner (born and raised in the small town). Expect to return later that day sometime between 8 and 9 p.m.
Tickets are $50 (plus an additional $5 for those who intend to enjoy a tasting at the Winery.) Lunch and dinner stops are planned. Meals are not included in the ticket price. And, please remember Stowe’s advice! Call quickly for reservations. The number is (252) 745-2239.
