Re: Pamlico County Structure Fire

At 19:42 hours, Pamlico County Sheriff’s Communications received multiple 911 calls reporting a fire at 10766 NC Hwy 55 in Grantsboro (Pamlico County Habitat for Humanity Rest or e). At 19:45 hours, Grantsboro-Silverhill Fire Department arrived on the scene and advised of Smoke Showing/Working Fire and requested additional resources. Fire crews were met with heavy fire and smoke conditions and were able to control and extinguish the blaze with minimal effects to adjoined structures (Piggly Wiggly). The fire was brought under control around 20:50 hours and personnel remained on the scene throughout the night for hot spots” and scene security. No injuries to civilians or responders occurred during this incident. The building and contents are considered as a total loss. The property was turned back over to the owner on 20-May-2018 at 13:57 hours.

The cause of the fire is under investigation led by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation in conjunction with the Pamlico County Fire M arshal s Office and the Pamlico County Sheriff s Office.
