BAYBORO – Pamlico Partnership for Children is honored and excited to serve the children and families of Pamlico County. We strive to bring together the whole community, including parents, teachers, and child care providers to create positive change for our children. It is said that “it takes a village!” Our efforts are to bring the Pamlico County Village together for positive outcomes.

Several programs are well known among young families.

First, Partnership Playgroup is a fun group for children ages 0-3 and their caregivers. Children learn through play and socialize with other children while caregivers bond and share with other caregivers.

Second, the Community Play and Learn group, a part-day preschool for children ages 3 and 4 held several days per week at Pamlico Primary School. These groups are preparing children for kindergarten while having fun and the results over many years are outstanding.

Third, our early literacy program, The Dolly Parton Imagination Library, provides a free book to all children in Pamlico County from birth up to age 5. This statewide initiative has the goal of reaching all children in the state with a free monthly age appropriate book.

The Partnership works closely with all the childcare centers and homes in Pamlico County to assist them in meeting state requirements and provide supports for early learning – it is great news that all the centers and homes in Pamlico County hold 4 and 5 Star Rated License through the NC Division of Child Development. The Partnership also provides Childcare Subsidy – administered through local DSS – this funding assists qualifying parents with cost of childcare.

Please join us on Saturday, July 21, at 6 pm for the ‘Kentucky Derby Party’ at the Delamar Center on the campus of Pamlico Community College. This is our largest fundraiser of the year! For more details, see our ad on Page A-13 of this newspaper.
