Pamlico County Media Release — the arrest of Richard Stanley Henries

On Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at approximately midnight Pamlico County Sheriff’s deputies were investigating a report of shots fired in the Vandemere community of Pamlico County.  Responding deputies conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle leaving the area of the complaint and encountered Richard Stanley Henries, 49 of Grantsboro.  

During the encounter it was determined that Henries was driving on an expired license and was the subject of the Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office Electronic Offender Monitoring Program.  When Henries was asked to exit his vehicle, a loaded handgun was discovered concealed on a magnet attached to the center console.  During a search of Henries  he was fond in possession of a quantity of crack cocaine and a quantity of methamphetamine, digital scales, brass knuckles, and other drug paraphernalia.  Henries was arrested and charged with the following crimes and is currently being held in the Pamlico County Detention Center without bond.
