Big Brother! Stick your ‘Disinformation Board’ where the sun don’t shine!

WASHINGTON, DC -– This week, U.S. Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) introduced legislation to prevent taxpayer dollars from being used to establish the Biden administration’s ‘Disinformation Governance Board’ at the Department of Homeland Security. “The Disinformation Governance Board is an Orwellian attempt by the Biden administration to manipulate and control information they don’t like about their failed policies,” said Senator Tillis. “Taxpayers shouldn’t be footing the bill for this kind of free-speech limiting political experiment, and I am proud to introduce this legislation…

Electric Vehicles actually increase carbon emissions!

Last week, Dexter Liu completed a well-written three-part analysis on the electric vehicle and why it is not ready for prime time.  I agree.  Here are additional considerations. Since the Tesla Model 3 weighs about the same as the Chevrolet Equinox, some interesting comparisons can be studied. The Tesla has a 126-mile range and takes 12 hours to recharge with a 240 VAC charging station.  It uses a heat pump to heat and cool the car, requiring additional power from the car battery and thus diminishing the mileage range.  Maximum mileage will only occur when neither heating nor cooling is requir…

“Hey little Johnny! Or is it Joanna?”

Local schools move away from just the 3 R’s Parents not notified if student (of any age) changes ‘gender assignment’ BAYBORO – Pamlico County School District reminds me of any typical family. We have our arguments, but in the end we are still a family. Despite the recent negative publicity surrounding our county schools, we can be proud of our students who have successfully participated in both academic and athletic competitions. Several of our high school seniors have received scholarships to four-year year colleges thanks to the efforts of counselors, teachers and parents. Our curricul…

Wake goes WOKE!

By Carolina Partnership For Reform WAKE COUNTY – This week, the Wake County School Board approved Millbrook High School’s request to ‘partner’ with a radical organization called “We Are” on so-called “anti-racist teacher training.” We Are, according to its own website, helps teachers impose Critical Race Theory in their classrooms. The problems with the partnership go beyond CRT, though. Just two months ago, We Are launched a public campaign to purge school teachers who dissent from social justice ideology. The campaign, called “ #somepeopleneedtobefired “ seeks to “hold our educati…

Electric Vehicle future not quite ready for ‘prime time’

By Dexter Liu ‘Thermal runaway’ is a dangerous condition unique to lithium-ion batteries. Overheating can end up in a catastrophic fire. “Battery fires, what consumers should know,” a Forbes article published September 16, 2021, revealed that while the EV manufacturers’ claims of limited inventory were due to chip shortages and supply chain problems, GM actually recalled more than 140,000 Chevy Volts due to the risk of battery fires. They’re not alone! Hyundai recalled 90,000 vehicles earlier, and Ford took back 20,000 of their electric plug-in hybrids in Europe b…

Home Care – A Growth Industry!

HAVELOCK – Last Friday, April 8, United Home Care cut the ribbon for its newest location at  474 US Hwy. 70 West – near Ziggy’s Cafe in a popular shopping center that serves this close-knit community. Intricacies of historic City Hall require pricey and unique elevator design

NEW BERN – Elected officials voted unanimously Tuesday night to finance a $4 million elevator project, which includes a host of related improvements, in order to bring this venerable building into compliance regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act. Although four area banks were contacted, only one – Truist Bank – replied with a formal proposal. Exactly $3.9 million will be financed over 15 years at a 2.86% annual APR. In late February of this year, bids were opened from four different contractors. Goldsboro-based Daniels and Daniels Construction Company submitted the winning fig…

Beware ‘thermal runaway’ in EV battery fires

By Dexter Liu USA – Did anyone tell you — should you be contemplating buying an Electric Vehicle — that, NO, you are not saving the planet any more or less than if you continued to drive that gasoline car? In fact, you will continue to have a role in carbon production while driving electric. That’s because EV charging stations are plugged into the power grid (off-the-grid chargers are powered by diesel generators). Nationally, less than 3 percent of all power consumed in America comes from wind and solar combined.  And yes, our electric power grid… drum roll, please…i…
