Jamestown, Virgina discovery could change history books
WILIAMSTON – Mark your calendar! The Al-Pam Republican Club will hold its August meeting on Thursday, the 6th, at the Hitch ‘N Post Restaurant, 1981 Highway 17 Business in Williamston.
The speaker for the evening will be State Sen. Buck Newton, GOP Candidate for North Carolina Attorney General. Newton currently serves in the State Senate, representing Johnston, Nash and Wilson counties. Buck was elected in 2010, defeating five-term Democratic incumbent A.B. Swindell.
Having chaired Judiciary Committees in the N.C. Senate since his election in 2010, Newton also chairs the Judiciary I Committee as well as the Appropriations Committee on Justice and Public Safety. In these roles, he is a key voice in setting policy and funding priorities for North Carolina’s judiciary and law enforcement agencies.
A native of Wilson, Newton, 46, graduated from Hunt High School before attending Appalachian State
University where he received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science before going on to graduate from
Campbell University School of Law. Newton has previously served as Chairman of the Wilson County
Republican Party as well as serving as an aide to Senator Jesse Helms on the Foreign Relations Committee.
