AURORA: Wayne Sawyer and Gail Phelps, co-chairmen of this year’s event, apply an official Fossil Festival emblem to the front door of the Aurora / Richlands Township Chamber of Commerce on Main Street in downtown Aurora. One of many highlights at this year’s festival will be a Confederate re-enactment. First Sgt. Kevin Gaskins and Capt. Gene Lilly will lead a large group, which also includes women and children, set up on the grounds of the festival as a living, breathing reminder of the Civil War years. Organizers expect brisk T-shirt sales at the festival. In fact, T-shirts are always a sell-out, according to long-time festival patrons. Annette Smith, Linnie Battle, and B.J. Blake display some of the many bright colors available this year.
