Pope Transport says friendly staff ‘are the future of our stores’

ALLIANCE – Founded in 1919, Mount Olive-based Pope Transport started out as a coal and lumber-hauling business that has grown to be one the Southeast’s premier petroleum distributors. In 1975, Pope took the plunge into convenience stores, acquiring Handy Mart, also based in Mount Olive. As part of the company’s Centennial Celebration, senior management visited the Alliance Handy Mart on Wednesday morning to express their appreciation to hard-working staffers.
