Drug overdose of four people leads to traffic accident on Hwy 55 East

On Thursday, June 29, 2017, Pamlico County 911 Communications Center received a 911 call from witnesses that observed a single vehicle traffic crash on NC Hwy 55 East in Reelsboro NC, about one mile East of Pinedale Food Mart. During the 911 call, it was stated that several of victims within the vehicle were outside of the vehicle and unsure if they were breathing.

Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office, Pamlico County Rescue Squad, Reelsboro (Station 9) Fire Department and the North Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the scene. Upon arrival, emergency personnel found (4) victims. Upon further investigation, it was determined that all (4) victims within the vehicle were having medical issues consistent with a drug overdose. Emergency personnel administered Narcan to all (4) victims. After several minutes, (3) victims refused treatment while (1) victim was transported to Carolina East Medical Center for further treatment.

Upon further investigation, deputies located a quantity of prescription medication, drug paraphernalia and other items that led deputies to believe that each individual within the vehicle were involved in the use and distribution of narcotics. Following the investigation, all (4) individuals were charged with the following crimes:

Connor Anthony Hough, W/M, Alliance NC, DOB- 03/16/1997

Charges: Possession with intent to Sale/Deliver Sch. IV Controlled Substance
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Bond: $20,000.00 Secured


Evan Taylor Pinnell, W/M, Boone NC, DOB- 12/30/1996

Charges: Possession with intent to Sale/Deliver Sch. IV Controlled Substance
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Possess Marijuana up to ½ ounce

Bond: $30,000.00


Trevor James Moody, W/M, Morganton NC, DOB- 03/24/1997

Charges: Possession with intent to Sale/Deliver Sch. IV Controlled Substance
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
DWI

Bond: $30,000.00


Martha Ines Bautista, W/F, Grantsboro NC, DOB- 11/05/1997

(Bautista was being treated at Carolina East and will be arrested upon being released.)

Charges: Possession with intent to Sale/Deliver Sch. IV Controlled Substance
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Bond: unknown


Following the traffic crash investigation, Investigators determined that Markese Deshon MOORE, B/M, Bayboro NC, DOB- 10/30/1994, had previously sold heroin to the (4) victims of the traffic accident. Investigators contacted MOORE and ordered up a quantity of heroin. MOORE delivered the heroin to a predetermined meeting location, and was arrested and charged with the following crimes:

Charges: Deliver Heroin
Possession with intent to Sale/Deliver Heroin
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Bond: $50,000.00

Within the past several weeks, The Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office has responded to and investigated numerous drug overdoses resulting in near death situations. Throughout those investigations, investigators have identified several individuals involved in the distribution of deadly heroin. Investigators expect to make numerous arrests in the near future.
