Civil War groups rally for religious charity

NEW BERN — Damian Judd, far right, the Homeless Shelter Supervisor for Religious Community Services, accepts a check from members of the Rains Brothers Camp: Sons of Confederate Veterans, represented by, from left, Chris White, Nancy Daughety, Alton White, and Branden T. Daughety. The group hosted the well-attended Aug. 2 ‘Confederate Flag Road Rally,’ collecting donations from other Civil War legacy and reenactment organizations. The Rains Brothers Camp has a goal of promoting Southern Heritage, and commemorating the sacrifice paid by ancestors during the Civil War.
