Activity Bus Involved in Accident

Several Students Received Minor Injuries

ARAPAHOE — At approximately 8:40 a.m., a Pamlico County Schools activity bus was involved in a single vehicle accident. The accident occurred on highway 306 south, just north of Arapahoe. The activity bus was transporting 5th graders from Fred A. Anderson Elementary School to Minnesott Golf and Country Club to participate in The First Tee program. The reason for the accident was related to an issue with the left rear tires; however, the cause of the issue is unknown at this time. The Pamlico County Schools transportation department is investigating the incident to determine the cause of the issue.

When the incident occurred there were 34 students and 4 adults on the activity bus. Ten of the students and one of the adults were transported to the hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries. At the time of this release, all of the students and the adult had been released from the hospital.
