Newport man charged following Harris Road Death Investigation

On 03/21/2022 Carteret County Deputies arrested Joshua Kenneth Clauson, 20, listed as homeless in Newport, for the murder of 46-year-old Daniel Andrew Brisson of Holly Ln, Newport. The charge comes following a continuous investigation where the body of Brisson was discovered in the roadway early Sunday morning in the 100 block of Harris Road in Newport. As this investigation is still on-going the Sheriff’s Office is unable to release any specific details about the case. Authorities Investigating Death of Newport Man

Carteret County Deputies and the NC State Highway Patrol are currently investigating the death of a Newport man found deceased on the roadway in the 100 block of Harris Road in Newport. At approximately 5:30am Sunday morning, 03/20/2022, a passerby stopped and called 911 after observing man lying in the road. Authorities have identified the victim and are in the process of notifying next of kin. Cedar Point man arrested for Attempted Murder

On 03/19/2022 Carteret County Deputies arrested Royal Pittman Rogers, 80, of Magens Court, Cedar Point after shooting his wife at the couple’s home in the Magens Bay community. Deputies and Cape Carteret police responded to the call Saturday afternoon approximately 5:44pm after a family member called 911 from a different location to report the domestic. Eleanor Rogers, 77, was transported to Camp Lejeune Naval Hospital where she is being treated for a gunshot wound to the upper torso. The victim is in stable condition.
