CARTERET COUNTY, NC – Two men were arrested on Wednesday, Dec. 22 on several charges after being involved in a car chase in the Newport area.
Around 9:50 a.m., a North Carolina State Highway Patrol trooper tried to stop a red Jeep Grand Cherokee for a traffic violation, however, the driver refused to stop, which started the car chase.
The chase started near the intersection of Hibbs Road and K-7 Lane in Newport and ended when the driver crashed the vehicle into a utility pole near Hibbs Road.

On Wednesday, December 29, 2021, numerous reports of motor vehicle breaking and entering’s in the Olympia community of Pamlico County were received by Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office 911 Communications Center. It was determined that multiple vehicles had been broken into during the night of December 28 and the early morning hours of December 29. During the investigation it was revealed that Michael Lee Tomblin, 26, of Olympia was responsible for the crimes. BAYBORO – With an annual salary recently set at $110,000, Tim Buck, manager of Pamlico County for the past 15 years, is county government’s highest paid employee.
Monday night he received another benefit.
