Firefighter Injured at Fire Scene

On Thursday March 5th, 2020 at 18:11 hours Pamlico County Fire Department (GRANTSBORO­ SILVERHILL FD) was dispatched to an Automatic Aid Structure Fire call with Aurora Fire Department (Beaufort County). While operating at the scene on NC HWY 306 N at/near BERGIN RD, a firefighter providing traffic control to the FIRE Incident was struck by a motor vehicle. The firefighter was immediately attended to by Aurora EMS Providers on scene along with Pamlico County Rescue Squad. Part of a train once owned by the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus is sitting on an abandoned rail line in Nash County woods. The N.C. Pamlico County man wins $1 million

PAMLICO COUNTY – Mohammad Zeidan, who lives in Merritt, won big in the Jan. 31 Mega Millions drawing, collecting a $1 million prize. Zeidan’s $2 ticket beat odds of 1 in 12.6 million to match the numbers on all five white balls in the drawing. After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $707,501. According to officials with the North Carolina Education Lottery, Zeidan bought his lucky winner ticket at Dempsey’s Kwik Mart on Catherine Lake Road in Jacksonville.
