Attention: Rabies has been reported!

Pamlico County Animal Control has recently confirmed 2 cases of animals testing positive for rabies: 1) a fox found on North 3rd Street in Bayboro and 2) a skunk located at the end of Ireland Road in Alliance. Over the last 60 days, there have been a total of 4 animals in the Bayboro-Alliance area, including the 2 described above that have tested positive for rabies. Rabies is a preventable viral disease of mammals most often transmitted through the bite of a rabid animal. House Transportation Committee, despite objections from several members over privacy concerns. As of 10 pm Tuesday night, Allen Thomas of Pitt County appears to have won the Democratic nomination in the Third Congressional District with 50 percent of votes cast. On the Republican side, Dr. Greg Murphy, also of Pitt County, has a significant lead over Dr. Joan Perry of Lenoir County. But, neither GOP candidate will likely capture at least 30 percent of vote, which means a two-way race for the Republican nomination will be decided in a runoff scheduled for July 9. Three charged in Kidnapping & Assault

Carteret County Deputies report the last of three main suspects being sought in connection with a kidnapping and assault are now in custody. Detectives began investigating the incident after a 911 call was made by one of the victims who escaped from a home in Newport where he and a female were bound with duct tape and held against their will. Deputies say the incident occurred at the home of Dennis Franklin Graham at 264 Carl Garner Road in Newport early Friday morning, 04/19/2019.
