F-35B CRASH SEP. 28, 2018 — MCAS BEAUFORT, S.C.

MCAS BEAUFORT, S.C. (Sept. 28, 2018) – A 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing F-35B belonging to Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 501 (VMFAT-501) stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort crashed in the vicinity of Beaufort, South Carolina at approximately 11:45 a.m. (EST), today. The U.S. Marine pilot safely ejected from the single-seat aircraft and is currently being evaluated by medical personnel. There were no civilian injuries. Applications for Disaster Food and Nutrition benefits will be taken at Pamlico County Human Services Center located at 828 Main St. in Alliance beginning Friday, Sept. 28, through Saturday, Sept. 29, and Monday, Oct. 1, through Saturday, Oct. 6. Applications will be taken from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We will not be open on Sunday, Sept. 30th. State/FEMA Disaster Recovery Center Opens in Pamlico County

RALEIGH, N.C. – The State of North Carolina and FEMA opened a Disaster Recovery Center in Pamlico County in the city of Grantsboro. Other centers will be opening soon in the affected areas. The centers offer in-person support to individuals and businesses in the counties included in the North Carolina major disaster declaration for Hurricane Florence and the subsequent floods.
