Lottery sting busts two clerks!

NORTH CAROLINA – Security officials at the N.C. Education Lottery recently completed a statewide test of retailers’ integrity in selling lottery tickets. The campaign, conducted between November 2016 and June 2018, checked 247 retail locations – with 245 passing, equivalent to a 99.2 percent compliance rate. The two locations where violations occurred were not identified in a Lottery press release. North Carolina Forest Service seeks help in locating a stolen truck and trailer

On August 21, 2018, the North Carolina Forest Service located in Pamlico County reported the larceny of a motor vehicle. The larceny occurred sometime between August 17, 2018 and August 19, 2018. The Forest Service reported that their green in color, 1995, International Tractor-unit, bearing NC permanent registration PR3340, with NC forestry decals on the side and a 2014, Gloe, Low-boy style, 3 axle trailer was stolen from the Forestry building in Granstboro NC. Local man dead ringer for famed author, Ernest Hemingway

KEY WEST – This year’s Hemingway Look Alike contest at Sloppy Joe’s in Key West attracted a whopping 160 contestants, eventually whittled down to 29 finalists. In this photo, Dave Wickersham receives a healthy round of applause as one of the last five in contention. The ultimate winner was Michael Groover who received the award after several previous attempts. Groover is the husband of TV personality Paula Dean. Back home after the exciting experience, Wickersham said: “It is very unusual for a first timer like me to make it to the finals. I really enjoyed the experience.”…
