CONVICTION IN SEX OFFENSES AGAINST A CHILD

New Bern, North Carolina – District Attorney Scott Thomas announced that, in Craven County Superior Court, during the last court session, his office obtained convictions against GARRETT RITSON YOUNG, 36, of Jacksonville, leading to a lengthy prison sentence. The cases were prosecuted in court by Assistant District Attorney Laura Bell, and investigated by the Craven County Sheriff’s Office. Former Animal Shelter director sentenced to prison

CARTERET COUNTY — On 12/13/2017, the Honorable Judge Benjamin Alford sentenced former Animal Shelter director Candace Christopherson to serve a minimum of 60 months and a maximum of 84 months in the North Carolina Department of Corrections as part of a plea agreement entered in Carteret County Superior Court on Wednesday. Chistopherson was the director of the Animal Shelter from September 2005 until she resigned in September 2016. Three arrested for vehicle break-ins — One culprit skips bail — remains on the lam

On November 16th, 2017, The Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Indian Bluffs Road, Arapahoe NC, in reference to a vehicle breaking and entering. The vehicle break- in resulted in the larceny of three handguns and multiple credit cards. After an extensive investigation by the Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office, three suspects were identified and charged with numerous felonies.
